Sunday’s are for winding down: Mentally prepare for the week ahead

For me, being a midwife who does shiftwork, there really is no such thing as a Sunday. When I have them off, great. When I don’t, my ‘Sunday’ might be on a Thursday. Life is hectic and it’s important to take some time out sometime in your week to just unwind and prep for the next. As it’s goes, I did have this Sunday off and with a majorly busy week ahead of me (appointments, work, courses you name it) I treated myself to a real chillaxed Sunday. It went a little like this….

I’ve been struggling with a shoulder injury for months now and it’s really acting up the last few days so I ran a really hot bath and just soaked til I resembled a raisin. I treated myself to a face and hair mask and just completely switched off. The products I used are below

My two favourite products here are the Amir Argan Oil Deep Conditioning Mask and the Champneys ‘Summer Dream Rewarding Body Lotion’.

The Amir conditioning Mask consists of Argan and acai which contain omega 6 & 9 as well as vitamin E which leave your hair feeling sooo soft and shiny.

The Champneys body lotion smells heavenly. The combination of peach, mango, orange and passionfruit results in a beautiful scent. The lotion is light so it absorbs into the skin easily, drying quickly with no greasy residue.

Once I was all squeaky clean and feeling refreshed I chillaxed with some Netflix and a good book. At the minute I’m reading Sleeping Beauties by Stephen and Owen King. It was a bit of a slow burner initially, but I’m really getting into it now. (Also, always looking for book recommendations. I’m a crime thriller kinda gal usually)

I needed today so badly and for anyone who’s ever feeling a little overwhelmed this is most definitely my advice on how to de-stress and unwind. I try to make this a regular weekly occurrence, why don’t you give it a try and see if it works for you?
